We are a self-financing organisation who raise funds in several ways from car boot sales to social events. The British Transplant Games will be held in Coventry in August 2009.
Our Aims
1) To preserve and protect the physical and mental health and rehabilitation of persons who have undergone transplant surgery by providing facilities for recreation and other leisure - time occupation for such persons
2) The advancement of the education of the public relating to organ transplantation
Training
The transplant team meet on most Mondays at the Harplands Hospital, Hartshill at 6:45 PM for training in the gymnasium, which consists of an aerobics session, circuit training and other activities e.g. badminton and everyone is encouraged to do as much or as little as they please. All this for free. (The training sessions are available to any kidney patient whether you are a transplant or not but please seek advice from your consultant first).
Monthly Meetings
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Abbey Hulton Sports & Social Club, Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent at 8:00 PM in a very relaxed atmosphere over a pint and a bag of crisps.
2008 Medals
The Transplant Games were held in Sheffield in August 2008, the team as usual did extremely well, as you will see from the following medal list -
